Wooden picture frame

Display photos in style on rough wood

Recently, your magnets once again helped me realise a project even better than originally planned, just as they did with my previous project.
The plan was to use old wooden boards as picture frames for photos. The weathered wood makes the pictures stand out from the wall in an aesthetically pleasing way. At the same time, these "frames" are very easy to make, even in large quantities: simply saw off the appropriate lengths from a long board! However, when it came to attaching the pictures to the wood, I had to think for a moment. Glue seemed too inflexible, and I wasn't quite sure which adhesive would bond well to the rough wood without damaging the photos. Nailing would also have damaged the pictures. Fortunately, I soon came up with the idea of using super magnets.
So I took some screws (note: not all screw materials are magnetic!) and drove them into the wood so they sat about a centimetre in from each corner of the photo. Nails would likely have worked too.
The photos are each held in place by 4 small 5 mm cube magnets.
Now I can quickly swap the images for new ones whenever I want. Arranged in an irregular pattern, the pictures look great on the wall. For a series of pictures, I can also envision using a long board with the images mounted side by side.
I drilled a hole in the back so I could hang it on a nail in the wall. The entire project took about an hour to complete.
